About 5 years ago NB-IOT and LTE-M were launched as mobile networks for IoT applications. The expectation was that these technologies would provide worldwide coverage and replace the old 2G networks. But this was not the case. Fortunately, there is the already existing Cat 1 technology that is mainly used for speech, but can also be used for IoT thanks to LARA and LENA modules.
